Whats the best year donor frame to get?

I am getting a 70d100 swb. Was looking into ifs but thought maybe a frame swap would be more straight forward. Would there be a good year to use for the shortbed or would I have to do some cutting on the frame anyways to make the wheel base right. My dad has a small welding shop and have done atleast 3 front stub swaps on streetrods so we have the welding abilities. Any advice is appreciated and an advance thanks to all that reply. Eric

The shortbed truck uses the same 114" wheelbase through 93. 72 uses some one year only parts on front brakes so 73-93 would probably all work.
