Help! I need to align my hood.

Post by 70-D100 »

OK Here is the story.
I'm supposed to pick up my truck at the body shop Tommorrow, put my hood on, and head to the MOPAR NATS in Columbus thursday. My problem is I have misplaced my restoration cd. :banghead I know it's on the cd, I've read it. :study A reply would be greatly appreciated. If i remember correctly the hood was high in the back when I removed it. The hinges have been powder coated and I know I'll have to start from scratch. I hope to see you there at Goldie's. I'll have a "work in progress" truck. Maybe I might get some help aligning it there???
Thanks in advance for the help. I'm cutting this to close.

I have the CD somewhere but the computer I'm on hates CD's, so I'll try and describe it the best that I can.
From my observations anyways, the hinge should be mounted so that where it mounts to the cab, it should be down as far as possible and where it mounts to the fender, it should be as high as possible. I hope that part makes sense anyways. So if you looked at it from the side, the front would be pointing uphill.
Once you put the hood on then, the spacers should be placed on the front bolt. It will probably require some fine tuning and may not necessarily be all the way down in the back, but a lot of them aren't. Hopefully this helps, if not, hopefully someone else on here can post some pics.

Thank you Kyle!
I remember the hinges have to be as low as possible on the firewall. I was not sure where the spacers went. The more spacers in the front bolts will lower the front of the hood. Is that correct?
Thank you for the fast reply.

the more spacers in front bolts will lower the rear of the hood, don't ask me how that works though. you can only fit a few in it though, I've been messin with the one of my D300 trying to get it aligned after paint, and it only had three on each side originally and I don't think many more would fit in. it ain't perfect but it's close enough for me.

I just came across this post, and you are probably already on your way, but, if you click (below at link) and look for PHOTO #116 you will see the hood adjustment photo that you were looking for. I wish you had emailed me in the beginning, I could have sent you the pic. Good luck finding your disc too.

HAVE FUN!! at the nats!

Thanks to MOPARNORM for having a great collection of photos. :salut
