Data Plate Questions

Post by DocsTruck »

I registered my truck on here the other day and I noticed that when I put the serial number in it said that my truck was made in St Louis. On the top of the data plate it reads " Built by Chrysler Canada LTD. Windsor, Ontario Canada". So why does the data plate say this?
Also, beside the serial number there is what is called a "S.O. No." which is 18036090. What is this number? There is the Veh. Model which reads D100, then there is another block that has "Model" RA36 what is this?
Thanks to all who can decipher all this. Are there any numbers that would tell you paint and trim colors? Oh and, why does my data plate tell me that the 318 in this truck is rated at 177hp at 4000 rpms when there is a decal on the air cleaner that is original to this truck that says 210hp 318 cu in????

The S.O. number is a sales order number.

The model RA36 is your rear axle. It is a Chrysler 8.75. If I remember correctly the RA has a SureGrip and the RF does not. You might want to double check this.

There are no numbers to dechipher your paint and trim.

I know the horsepower question was covered a while back so you might want to search for it. I think it might have had something to do with how/where it was measured. For example with all the accesories on the engine it would be less and at the rear wheels it would be less.

Your first question I cannot answer. If it is a 7 then it should be made in Missouri. :thinking

Should read 118 followed by 1=warren 6=windsor or
a 7=missouri

A windsor truck D100 with a v8 engine will read 1186036090
Warren
1181036090
Missouri
1187036090

Just example numbers
My 68 has the '7'.

RA36 was optioned surgrip and only differace
is a S stamped on the 3rd member tag and
in some cases stamped in to the bottem of
the housing.

if you had a build sheet the SO Number would found on it and the paint codes as well... that's what ties it all together...

here's mine for reference: (note that my serial number is not on the build sheet because it was pulled from the line to be built in the SE group for the HP Package).
