will 68 column work on a 69?

Post by frankyb »

I have a 1969 D100 pickup with a slant 6 that is missing the column completely. It used to have a 3 speed shifter on the column as well. I bought the truck this way with the intent to fix it up.

I need a complete steering column with 3 spd shifter on the column and steering wheel.

I understand that a 62, 63 and 64 will not work (different mounting positions, different steering box sizes.

Will a 68 column work on the 69?

Please help.

Thanks, FrankyB

The '69-'71 3spd manual column shifters are the same.
The '61-'68 3spd manual column shifters are different
than the '69-'71 columns.

I suppose with some mods, you could make an earlier
column work for your application. If it were me, I'd
beat the bushes for a '69-'71 column :Thumbsup
