trey, I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but there is no way to take the latch out without removing the window frame. I realized that when I had to replace mine a couple years ago, when the shaft that holds the star wheel broke. Ozzie.

what really sucks is my star wheel is in great shape. what broke, see if i can describe this right. on the fridge handles, there is a big pad the outside handle rubs against to actuate the door. the linkage has a slot in it so when the inside handle is moved, the outside hande can stay at rest. well the rivet that slides in that slot is what fell out. so now there is nothing connecting the outside to the latch assembly. the short linkage is just floppin in mid air. so i can get out of the truck fine, but i have to open the back door and reach up and open it from the inside to get in. wouldnt be such a pain if it wernt for the cold windy weather that keeps the windows up. im going to get it out and try to tap the hole and lock tite in a machine head screw to replace the rivet. anyone else delt with this issue in the past?? maybe a trick to fix them??? :thinking

reach the handle..... been there, done that LOL

years ago.... weak spot I guess..... :banghead
