Is there any thing special about this truck?

Post by kman1226 »

I bought a 67 D200 for parts. While looking @ the date plate it has a 318, Spicer rear end but the gearing and most of the other sections are "SPEC". Is there possibly anything special about this truck?

You could also e-mail Ben with the numbers and he could tell you what they are.

Just checked the vin. There doesn't seem to be anything special.

12 = D200
8 = 318
1 = Warren, Michigan Plant
28112 = Sequence Number

I am still a little confused about about the SPEC on the data plate. Were these maybe issued to Military or Government vehicles?

SPEC is short for "SPECIAL"

chances are the rear end has a suregrip (or posi for the GM guys) but you say all the boxes are marked "SPEC". what all this means is the truck is full of non-standard options and the factory stamped the boxes with "SPEC" to cover their butts.

here's what my dataplate on my D100 HPP looks like:

note that my truck did not come factory with a sure grip rear otherwise, from my observations, those boxes would be stamped "SPEC" as well...

If it had a limited slip it would show RF in there, thats why yours says RA.
I wonder what the special is on a dana 60?

Before you part it out you should see what is listed below in the SERT area. You wouldn't want to part out a CSS truck unless it was really in bad shape. It could just be a bunch of special ordered equipment the original owner wanted. You won't find anything by running the VIN. The SERTs will have abbreviations and a corresponding number. Some of them are hard to tell what they are because they aren't very descriptive. You can post them here and those of us who have a list or have run across them before might be able to decipher them.
