1970 truck mirrors

Post by fireguyfire »

Just picked up a 70 slant 6 to go beside our 69 Adventurer, and I am researching some thoughts on putting it back to original (hence the other thread about seat covers).
This truck has a single mirror from another vehicle, but I seem to remember that there were only 3 mirror options for this truck, and I want to confirm that.
1) curved arm mirror with round mirror head painted white
2)curved arm mirror with round mirror head in chrome (Adventurer model)
3)west coast mirrors.

Is this correct? I am considering putting west coast mirrors on the truck as it is a bare bones farmer grade truck but want to be sure. Would the west coast mirrors have been chrome or painted white?
I have seen lots of trucks with the tripod style mirrors with the rectangular head but I always assumed these were a later aftermarket towing mirror.
Does anyone know if I am on the right track with all of this info?

Some of these aren't for pickup trucks, but here are the mirrors available in 63-68. 1970 probably had the same ones.

If you decide to go with factory West Coast style I have a set I would let go. I just took them off my truck.

Bill is not a parts retailer. The pic posted is merely a photo of the original parts catalogue showing what was available back in the day.
If u need/want mirrors, search the internet for stuff made and sold today, try to find used originals on ebay or ask in the parts wanted section of the forums.

Hello,

My 1970 D100 "The Dude" has West Coast Jr. mirrors.

I restored them completely by media blasting all the metal parts, painted with white - 3 coats. reassembly with all chrome acorn nuts and hardware.

They look very cool. They give "The Dude" a wide stance look coming down the highway.

Take care,
