Hey guys,
Rebuilt my Model 86 heater box over the weekend and the only thing I need to complete the job and install is the thick foam that goes between the cab and the inlet to the airbox. Anyone know where I can get this foam? I went to some auto parts stores as well as hardware stores to see if I could find something that would work but not much luck.
I have a few ideas on how I can make something work but less than ideal so hoping someone else who has experience with this can give me some ideas on what they have done.
Also, anyone know where I can get the heater valve control cable, defrost/floor cable, and the little hold downs for the cables?
Thanks!
HERE'S THE FOAM I'M NEEDING TO REPLACE:
PICS OF THE QUICK RESTO JOB:
New Control Valve Installed
Testing everything prior to paint and install
All painted up and looking purdy
Will post up my build thread soon but here's a teaser...
Model 86 Heater Box to Cab Foam?
Re: Model 86 Heater Box to Cab Foam?
If all else fails, you might try your local Goodwill or Salvation Army store and look
for an old [cheap] chair or couch cushion. The foam, although not exact, should
be close enough.

Re: Model 86 Heater Box to Cab Foam?
I went to HD or Lowes and got weather stripping foam tape and then put foil tape on the inside where the cab lip comes into it so it's not sticky. Works pretty well.

Yeah I ended up getting the foam tape used for a camper shell. It's a dense pliable foam with a sticky back.
Coiled it around the air inlet on the box twice and then carefully laid a strip horizontally on top of the coiled portion to reach the appropriate height.
