I also left the LH Lugnuts on my 66 W100. Not worth the time to change them out if everything is good. I have spare LH Lugnuts put away if needed.Jims68 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 09, 2023 2:03 pmI know a lot of people like to change the studs to the R/H type, but... I left mine the L/H type. I've been around MOPARs for all my driving life, so I'm used to them and have no desire to swap them out. Just turn the lug wrench the opposite way. Left side of truck, Left hand threads. Easy. But, I understand it when guys do change them.
How rare is the large knuckle Dana 44 front axle?
I don't have any information regarding its rarity. Out of the 5 Power Wagons I own orBigBlockTrucks wrote: ↑Fri Nov 03, 2023 2:07 pmHow rare is the large knuckle Dana 44 front axle?
My truck came with one. I pulled it in favor of a Dana 60 from a newer truck with disc brakes.
I still have the axle.Hobcobble wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2023 11:37 amI don't have any information regarding its rarity. Out of the 5 Power Wagons I own orBigBlockTrucks wrote: ↑Fri Nov 03, 2023 2:07 pmHow rare is the large knuckle Dana 44 front axle?

of your D44/3500 lb axle or just set it aside?....

Now that's novel.BigBlockTrucks wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2023 1:12 pmI still have the axle.
When I pulled the cover the spider gears hit the drain pan before the oil. The previous owner drove it on just the front axle after he took out the rear bearing of the transfer case.
I had the same breakdown in 1984 on a 62 W300, on Donner Pass at sunset in Feb. Drove on the front axle into Reno and spent the night. Pulled the bent output shaft of the 201, straightened it with a cutting torch I had with me and a torpedo level, installed a new bearing.....drove it 300 miles home.BigBlockTrucks wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2023 1:12 pmI still have the axle.Hobcobble wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2023 11:37 amI don't have any information regarding its rarity. Must be nobody told him to check fluids under the truck too!
Keep it around for the rest of the parts for sure.BigBlockTrucks wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2023 1:12 pmI still have the axle.

It has 4.88 gears which is the other reason I changed it. Those gears really aren’t needed with a big block going in it. I also have the matching rear. The big problem is my location. Up here in the northeast there aren’t many sweptline trucks left that aren’t rotted to death. It makes it hard to sell.Hobcobble wrote: ↑Thu Nov 09, 2023 11:16 amKeep it around for the rest of the parts for sure.BigBlockTrucks wrote: ↑Tue Nov 07, 2023 1:12 pmI still have the axle.

What "was" the gear ratio?....
