Don't see a pic, but a 68 W100 will be a shortbed and a W200 a longbed. Both will have the same 8 lug axles. The badges mean something ain't right.

The badges on a 68 should just say 100. If you count the data plate as a badge, that might say D100.

your right . says dodge then 100 . is the wheelbase 114" or 115" ? is there any information on what length the front and rear leaf springs are ? just curious as to how close the 67-72 and 73-87 chevy/gmc leaf springs are as the lift kits are alot cheaper for chevy then they are for ford and dodge . also has anyone done a sbc or bbc engine swap into the w100 power wagons ?

Springs would be 48 inches long with the bolt in the very center. Why would you want to put imo, inferior gm engines in?

inferior ? I wouldn"t exactly go that far . reasoning though is simple : I have a 1993 sbc 350 tbi with $6500 worth of parts put into it that runs awesome . second would be the 1968 427 bbc I have with 30,000 orig miles . not to mention hei ignition , chevy steering columns ( work real nice with either the 1968 C60's ram assist or 1978 saginaw gm 2wd box for crossover steering

Wheelbase is specified on the vin plate in the door jam. (114)
Not much left of that truck. Attempting restoration is a fool's errand for sure.

That's a good deal of work to put a different manufacturer's engine/trannyNate83 wrote: ↑Sat May 09, 2020 9:12 pminferior ? in that W100. Your W100 looks to be in the same condition my '68 W100
Utiline is.... I wouldn't suggest trying to restore it. I managed to get my
W100 running and used it as a snow plow on our property for a few years
but never tried to register it for the road.

I know it is an older post, but...
IF you purchased it... lose the 67-72 F series bed. That truck “needs” a flatbed. That grill alone is worth more than the rest of the truck. IF it has good doors and a sound chassis, repair/replace the floor pans and seat, call it good. Do not swap the factiry engine for a Chebby engine, I own both brands. You’d be adding more headaches than you need. I have a K1500 with a built tbi 350, and my 318 D100 can out tow it. A 727 or 4spd is infinitely stronger than a 700r4/4L60 or GM 5spd.
If you really want a tbi powered 4x, I’ll straight swap my K1500 for the W100 carcass.

If I didn't build it, it ain't mine.
