1963 D100 with a 5.7 HEMI

Post by joinmrterry »

Dodge D-100 with a 345hp 5.7 Hemi engine and 5 speed automatic transmission (545 RFE) with a custom built hot rod lane harness. The rear differential is a dodge 8 3/4 with 3:55 gears, green wheel bearings, and disk brakes. The front end is a 2004 crown Vic P71 with rack and pinion steering and dual piston calipers along with heavy duty brakes. The dash panel is hand made with Omega Kustom gage set along with new heater and stereo. Seat was upholstered last year and new cab floors were installed. The fuel tank was relocated under the bed for safety but the old spout is still in the cab for a nostalgic look. The truck was built as a daily driver and is comparable in weight to a newer charger. :dance

Since he just bought it, I don't think he built the truck or installed the harness. The ebay ad and his description above says "custom built hot rod lane harness".

How is it with the 3.55 gears? I have basically the same setup but its not complete. Was wondering if it would be better with 3.55 or 3.91's. Just looking for your opinion now that you have driven this setup. Also, do you know if that is the original Hemi power steering pump hooked to the Ford Rack? I have read that the dodge pump puts out too much pressure for the rack, but I dont believe it. Just wondering.

Hey Moparians...I just got the truck yesterday and I'm in the discovery stage. So far, I Love it. It sounds good and runs even better. The quality of work that Ryan, the guy that built it, did is fantastic. He is a Staff Sargent in the USMC and is an instructor in the motor pool. Apparently he knows what he's doing. I am changing the wheels and tires to a 70"s Mopar cop car wheels and tires. As soon as I learn how to post more than one pic at a time....I'll post more pics.
