My extra long bed crew

Post by skyrodder666 »

Just thought I'd share some updates on my build. A little back story. I bought this truck a couple of years ago locally. Chased it for awhile before I got it. Wound up selling it to Wayne down in Austin shortly thereafter. Two years later I buy another crew and this one comes back up for sale. Had to have it neck so I sold the other crew and got this one back. Finally starting to build the truck I've wanted for a long time. It will eventually be a crew cab W300 with a factory utiline dually bed. For now it's going to be a D300 until i collect the parts I want to update it. Anyhow here are some recent pictures of the truck. My friend's just finished stretching it to the right wheelbase. It wound up being 168". That's 22" longer than a swb crew and 8" longer than a long bed crew.

Here are some updated pictures of the truck. I've got the bed mocked up with the single fenders on it. I've got factory fender extensions for whenever i install duals. It's starting to come together.

Yea the beds not completely mounted just yet. Just tacked together with some angle iron and then bolted straight to the frame. I'll use some rubber mounts to raise it up once it gets finished.

gonna be sweet! I use 1.25" blocks of oak and some 3/8" rubber I have from a piece of conveyor belt I have lying around on my mounts for D300s with 9 foot utiline. the oak is nice and stable. will last for 60 years. that is how Dodge did mounts on cabs even back in the 40s and maybe some in the 50s
