Memories...and the future.

Post by gunnutt73 »

When I was a little guy, my first memories wrenching on anything was with an uncle and his '66 SWB. He was a sweptline guy who has had 7 or 8 over the years. Only 2 of then we're ever good daily drivers. And the 66 was the cherry. Well, she ain't a cherry no more. None of them are. The last running one, a 64 LWB (with a 69 front end from a cow collision) was parked about 5 years ago. The 66 hasn't run in 10 years. Well, everything sweptline my uncle has was just given to me. I didn't realize what bad shape the old girls were in until this weekend when we visited. I'll attach pics of how I found them this past weekend. Soon we'll be making another trip or two for trucks that will be coming home with me...hopefully will start a build thread shortly after. The top 2 trucks are the old drivers. Ultimately, the 66 is the one I'd love to have as my daily driver. It was the victim of a little vandalism (hence the busted windshield) and the interior suffered because of it. The bed was removed, blasted, primed and painted and left on blocks and is in great shape. I'll post more pics and let you know what's what as I figure it out. But for now, the 1st truck is the 66, the 2nd is the 64 with the 69 front end. The 3rd is a 70 parts truck, the uteline is a 69 parts truck, and the blue body a 68 parts truck. I think I got it all straight. There were a total of 4 parts trucks that stripped of most use able parts long ago and are in a shed. Let's see what the future holds for these guys!

Nice to hear of family vehicles being refurbished and kept in the family. :welcome When you have questions, or need parts... this is the best place to be. GOOD LUCK with the projects! I wonder.... how did the cow make out? :thinking
