Crewcab, What's it worth?

So here's the story. A friend of mine was telling me about this crewcab that looks just like mine. Turns out the guy wants to sell it, but he wanted me to check it out and tell me what I think it's worth. I have a number in mind and it's pretty close to what he is going to ask for it. I told him I would post it here to see what people thought it was worth.

1969 Crewcab Power Wagon
383 4-speed w/PTO driven winch
58,000 miles
Has been repainted and has some chips in the paing
In his family of the last 40 years.

Does it have a NP445 in it or is the S.E.R.T. for the PTO?.... :thinking
I've always liked the treatment to the front step hole bumpers for winch
trucks too.... cool!

I would say $8k also. Cool truck, good condition, AC is a +, no real demand to create a premium price.

I'd venture eight to ten grand, if the A/C and the winch are both in working order. It's very nice. Honestly, if I had the $$$ for this, I'd be sending you a PM for more info about this.

Would he want a nice lowered '68 D100???

Well, folks. I just bought this truck. Thanks to Forum member Slick for getting me in touch with the owner. I am in the process of getting a shipper to load her up and get her to Maryland. I am pretty excited.

Couple questions:
I have read a couple of articles that make a case for not running radial tires on these old trucks as their suspensions were not designed for them. What is the consensus of the group?

In addition to tires, the front springs sag a bit, so I have some work to do there. Thinking a 2-3 inch lift while I'm at it and giving me the ability to add some larger tires. Yea or nea?

In addition to the truck, the owner is throwing in the original wheels and an in bed tool box.

Another truck coming to maryland!

:welcome

Radial is all good. They're buck board wagons.

lift may give you bump steer? I need to get springs made for mine so will keep you posted.

Hey Wally. A Maryland guy! So, bump steer is when you hit a bump, especially cornering and you get the sidewinder chatter? By the way, I am a 30 year Chrysler retiree and been trying to find a nice old PowerWagon for some time. Can't wait to get her.

:welcome :usa You bought yourself one very nice truck. :Thumbsup
I run a set of all season radials on my '68 W200 and haven't had
any issues. You might want to look into having the stock springs
re-arched or perhaps buy new ones .... I'd keep it stock height with some
decent 235/85/16s on it..... When you lift the truck, the steering
geometry can change to the point where your drag link is in an
undesirable position. :pale You can get bump steer or possibly
a "death wobble" :pale :pale Check out a Youtube video on
Death Wobble.... its pretty hairy. :pale

Best of luck whichever way you go on it. :Thumbsup

:salut Looks like a really NICE truck! Have fun with it!! Like John said about having springs re-arced.... that may just give you that 2-3 inch lift without actually "lifting" the truck. That would just put it in its original stance! :Thumbsup

cool truck.. love to have one like that...

radial tires aren't a problem.. the problem comes when you use bias ply tire alignment specs on a vehicle with radials. hard to find a good alignment guy these days.. too many use the stock specs for these older vehicles and only know how to line up some lines on a computer screen.. find a good oldtimer that knows what he is doing and get him to align it with the radials and you'll love it.
