Post by Hemi64 »

Been working on this about 8 months. Dropped her down updated brakes, fuel system and about everything else but the body. Hemi is out of a 04 Ram truck. Gonna leave the body like it is. Hope you guys like it.

Do you have any other pictures of your truck? Maybe some build pics or pictures of the motor swap? Very cool looking truck you have there.

Unfortunately I lost most all my pictures when my phone crashed about a month and a half ago. All my build pictures were lost. I had quite a few. Here are some others.

Thanks. Used the stock computer. Custom wire harness by Hotwire Auto made it a breeze. Plug and play.

Thanks everyone. Would have been lost if not for the site forums. A great resource for a build like this. These old dodge's are a bear to find info and parts for but worth the effort I think. Have had a great response from guys anywhere I take it. Everyone wants to talk about it. Thanks again.

Look's Cool.
What did you use for motor mounts? Trans mount?
I love the original look you have there.
How did you lower it?

Thanks. I used new style weld in motor mounts from speedway motors. $100. Custom made the trans mount from a piece of c-channel and energy suspension trans mount. Lowered the front axel by sending it to Nastalgia Sids in Oklahoma. Three inch drop. Rear axel was switched to the top of the springs. Came out pretty level. Only problem is drops the front axel closer th the ground and my oil pan is close to the steering drag bar just behind the front axel. Just made some bump stops to keep from hitting the bar. 20 inch wheels keep it off the ground pretty good also.

I would love to do this swap someday, but I just don't know if I could drop the $1,000 plus dollars for the wiring harness. Is there a way to use the stock harness out of a donor?

What size wheels and tires are you using? Are you using a dropped stock axle, or an IFS off a donor? I love the way your truck sits. I've got a 3"-dropped axle from Sid's up front, and reversed rear spring mounts in the back, giving three inches drop all around.

Swap was as I say rather simple just a lot of hard work. Getting everything lined up and level with the right pinion angles and clearance issues front back up and down. Just used a cherry picker and placed and pulled engine quit a few times. Kept the original motor mount perches and attached with bolts a 3/8 inch plate to them and just got the engine where I wanted it then tacked them then pulled them n welded them up. Tranny mount is just a straight piece of c channel with energy suspension mount. Biggest issue w clearance was the pan being close to the steering bar. Deleted the power steering pump. Shorter belt and modified the middle mounting bracket for front accessories. Has 20" wheels. 10" in the rear and 8 in front. Riddler brand. Mastercraft tires. I had the original wiring harness but running down the needed and deleted wires was going to be nightmare. Had a friend of a friend willing to help but trying to get that lined up was a problem and then if you have issues later you are back where you started. I can and has been done but just not for me. There are pictures on google of people that have done it and looks like a rats nest to me.
