New guy w/ '68 D200

Post by Abloch »

Greetings,

Just bought my first Sweptline and I couldn't be more happy. Been looking for awhile and finally found "the one". It a '68 D200 Camper Special Custom or is it Custom Camper Special? The truck has a mere 60,000 miles on it and spent most of it's life in a barn with a camper in it. Just brought it home and now I will spend some time getting to know it. Already pulled the radiator and sent it off for a re-core. While that's out I think I am going to pull the motor so I can clean it up right and do an engine bay detail. I sure there are going to be questions as I become more acquainted with the truck and I look forward to learning for you. Service manual is on the way.

You don't see too many trucks of this age with the original seat fabric.

That was one of the selling points for me. Also the blue rubber floor mat, which is almost perfect and the dash pad looks new.

Welcome to the site Andrew. :welcome :usa You've unearthed quite a gem!
The 3.54 gear along with the 727 is a great combination. :clap :Thumbsup
It does look to be a Camper Special Custom. :2cents

Thanks John. I'm new to the Sweptline world and wanted to get the name in the right order.

Found a local guy on Craigslist with a bunch of parts so I am headed over to his place on Saturday to score a new(er) fuel tank, some tail gate hinges and perhaps a bumper. That's really all this truck needs.

I've started on the rejuvenation of the few things that'll need attention before this becomes my daily driver. Pulled the heater out today so I could inspect the core and of course found a mouse house. Lubed up all the cables and tomorrow I'll reinstall and figure out a heater to cowl seal. Fuel lines are going to be next once I get the new(er) tank installed and I still haven't decided on pulling the engine or not. We'll see.

A newer tank may not fit correctly without modification.
