As sweptline owners we are always looking for front suspension alternatives. I know their are options ie: 72-up clip, mustang II, and crown vics. Well I think the 2nd generation Dakota/Durango might be an option. I recently pulled my motor out of a 2000 Durango and I think this front clip could work. The framerails under the cab measure pretty close to 38" just like the sweptline. The front track width is about 2.5" narrower which I don't think would be bad. The biggest hurdles I see are the bastard 6 lug wheels and the upward angle of the of the rack and pinion. Just throwing it out there. Here are a few pictures/measurements I took last weekend. I am measuring an 8 lug front axle, but I think they are the same as a 1/2 ton?

Re: 2000 Durango frame specs
Well the Dakota-Durangos are plentiful and some have 5.7 hemi and 5.9s. So the engine/trans combos are there. I'm not sure but, are all of them torsion bar setup? I have only had Daks. I'm wondering if ya could get some 6 to 5 lug adapters. That would solve the track width. Also the diff is easy enough to get new axles or maybe even have them drilled. That might allow for some wide tires in back. They also share the same bolt pattern as a few other vehicles. I thought there was a thread on here that someone did that swap? Good Ideas, keep them coming.

Re: 2000 Durango frame specs
They are not torsion bar front ends. Maybe the 4wd's? Not sure. I was looking at adapters today. They would actually make up the track width problem. I would almost go for the 6 x 5.5" bolt pattern for the wide variety of wheel options.

Re: 2000 Durango frame specs
I didn't realize that the 2wd were coil springs. I've only had 4wd. Might as well go for a common bold pattern since the truck will be modified. A bunch of the Rams had 5x5.5 and I think the Dak/Dur had the 5x5.5 starting in 2005.
