bare metal
I am thinking about sandig my sweptine down to bare metaland keep it that way and finish it with clearcoat.
If I look on the net, I see a lot of trucks stripped down to bare metal, but none of them are swepties. Does anybody have a picture of a sweptline in bare metal? See this chevy as an example:https://fbcdn-sphotos-g-a.akamaihd.net/ ... 1385_o.jpg
thanks

Re: bare metal
I like the idea, when I sold my 51 plymouth is was mostly in metal and I liked it. I saw an old ford truck at Viva Las Vegas a few years ago and it had a metallic clearcoat that was pretty cool over the bare metal.

Re: bare metal
There is a guy here in the City that has a '51 Ford F-1 that has been stripped to metal, and he has left it that way on the outside, but he did clearcoat the exterior. He decided to paint the interior and under the hood, which actually looks pretty damn good! He should be at a few events this Spring with the finished truck. I'll have to get a few pics of the finished beast and post them later.
Ooooh, metallic clearcoat over bare metal, huh? That would be pretty cool!

Re: bare metal
I was just reading about KBS coatings. They have a clearcoat, supposedly, made just for this.
What a mess.

Re: bare metal
A local millionaire car dealer here has an early 50's Mercury done that way. It looks nice except he had it done with a finish that's way too damned shiny.
I'd stay away from a high gloss finish.

Re: bare metal
Be careful with clear over metal. The chemical process is tricky.
