Went to the drive-in...

...this past Saturday in Guthrie, Oklahoma. A couple of guys up there put on a FREE drive-in movie every October, featuring two car movies. This year was Return to Macon County and Thunder Road. Guys bring their hot rods, restored cars, in-progress rides, and nearly anything else to the movie. Spotted this '62 D100 at the end of the front row. Is has a later 360 and automatic, along with an aftermarket floor shifter. It was pretty ratty before the orange metalflake paint job, now it's sorta-ratty. The lettering is out of the owner's head. Pretty cool beater! He intends to find a short bed for it and cut the frame, in order to install it. It's lowered with a 3" Sid's axle, plus reversed rear spring mounts.

Cool looking truck, for sure.

As far as the rims, they appear on craigslist and ebay fairly frequently. You just have to keep on the look out.
What a mess.

I so wanted to go to that. Had to work on the BOV. Pinion seal. Looks like it was a good turnout. We went last year. Was fun

It was going to be just me and my wife going up, so were were going to take the stock D100 up...then my sons and one of their friends wanted to tag along, so we loaded up the Family Truckster; my '86 Ford Country Squire. Hell, that got nearly as much attention as some of the hot rods did!

The aluminum ones similar to these are pretty common. I see them on craigslist quite a bit and there are always some on ebay. The steel ones with the smaller slots are much harder to find.

That's pretty cool. We have been wanting to go to that drive in for a while, nothing good showing when we had time. If you would, let me know next year and maybe we take the O 70 down, sounds like a blast.

It's held on the third Saturday of October each year. Every time, it's two different car movies. Lots of fun.
