Bringing it back to life again...
As I've mentioned before here, my 1971 D-100 has been put into storage for 4 years or so due to a variety of reasons. And, as mentioned before, I will now be cleaning it up and getting it back on the road so I can sell it (sadly).
Today was the first step; removing all four flat/cracked/bad tires and rims so I can replace them with new tires.
This poor truck is covered in black widows and wasps, so I'm really excited about driving it a few miles to my house from the storage lot.
The only real problem with the interior was I never covered the dash pad, so it cracked in two spots. Anyone have a good black one?
More to come as it progresses.

Looked there, but didn't see it. I probably missed it. Do you have the link for it?

Re: Bringing it back to life again...
I've got it up and running again with new tires, battery, u-joints and other misc parts still to come. Currently it's really cleaning up. I've still got some time to put into finishing it before I put it on the market.
However, I noticed after I had it running for a while it wouldn't shut off easily and was doing the "diesel" thing badly. Any ideas as to why? It's been sitting for well over a year since I last started it. Otherwise it runs terrific.

Thanks, I'll check into it. Once it's ready, I'm going to hate to see it eventually go.

You might want to change plugs as deposits on the plugs or a "hot spot" in the combustion chamber will make it "diesel" also.Floorguy wrote:I've got it up and running again with new tires, battery, u-joints and other misc parts still to come. Re: Bringing it back to life again...
Couple things;
1) Plugs and air cleaner changed out and it runs way better already. I'm pretty much done with most of the stuff, just have to finish with a new bed liner coating.
2) Upon digging through my "extra parts" box in the attic, I found a fair amount of both upper and lower aluminum trim (some damaged) as well as numerous (mostly damaged) plastic trim clips for both the upper and lower trim. I also found some misc smaller items (speedo cluster, rusty chrome mirrors/mounts, DODGE emblems, etc.) I'll post pix of them later to see if anyone wants them. At this point, I'm only interested in unloading this stuff for the shipping cost, unless you want to pick it up. No need to try and make money, just want it to go to a good home.

Here's the speedo cluster from another 71' parts truck, no idea if it works. Also, there are 3 stock mirror mounts and 2 aftermarket mirrors that don't match. In the rubbermaid container is just a bunch of misc parts, I'll take a better picture of all the trim and misc parts later.

Hi, I have a 70 D100 do you have the DODGE letters that go across the front of the hood? Let me know, thanks!

Re: Bringing it back to life again...
I'm getting pm's asking about the mirror brackets and it looks like they're sold to the first pm message asking about them. If he doesn't come through, I'll go to the next message in line. I'm only asking for shipping cost on this stuff.
As for the DODGE letters, I have some but not sure if they're all there. I'll check tonight after work.

That was quick. If any mirrors are left, there is a member here in Maryland looking.

Ok, the mirror brackets, rear view mirror, tan seat belts, and DODGE hood letters are all claimed in the order they were requested via PM's.
I'll post pictures of all the aluminum body and fender trim later on after I pull them all back out of the attic.
As for now, here's a picture of what's left in the "junk box" that's worth saving.
Again, everything is free plus shipping.
