An old one of me, a fish, and the truck

Post by 1969IndianaDodgeMan »

This was 1978 at Lake of the Pines here in East Texas- I am the little guy in front - the one about the same size as the cat fish. The guy holding onto me is my granddad, the original owner of my Sweptline. If you look close, you can see the Sweptline in the background of the photo.

Thanks. I would have been 4 at the time, and my granddad would have been 68.

Really good stuff. Makes me think of the 70 Charger RT and 70 Road Runner I owned back then:). Can you imagine a senior in HS and owning both of those?

Thanks for sharing the pic,

Scott

Thanks John! While I do not remember the car, there is a good chance it was a big Chrysler. My granddad was a big Chrysler fan, and used to drive the 140 miles to Dallas to buy a new one, because there was not a Chrysler dealer here in town.

Scott - that is a pretty sweet collection for a HS senior to be driving!

I had a Plum Crazy Challenger and a 69 Runner after that. If I had been smart, I'd have kept them all! Love the old pics. Is that your family in your avitar?

That is one of the best photos I have seen in some time.
Very cool. And you still have your Grand dads truck?

That is my family in the Avitar- most of them anyway, I guess my mom was taking the picture. The man on the right is my Dad, and that is my brother beside him. On the left side of the truck is my Uncle, my Aunt, myself (with the dark hair), and my cousin. We are sitting in the bed of the same '69 I own now - it was my Granddad's truck. Here is a slightly different view - that is me with my back tuned

Jim - I do still have it, my Granddad bought it new in December of '68, and drove it until his death in '83, and then my Uncle had it for years until I got it from him.

I think I may have posted these before, but I was looking at some old photos to try and get some inspiration and motivation to get things going again, and ran across these

Thanks for sharing ,great photo's and history.....looks like one of our family's photo's up at lake Livingston back in the 70's. My Uncle Raymond had a turquoise and black roofed 66 longbed back then, it made a lasting impression on me and so did Dads 63 383 Newport...
P.S. -My folks are from the Mt. Pleasant area and Carthage as well. Sinclair and Fuquay's....... also cousins with Reeves family.

I do not know any Sinclair's of Fuquay's around here, but I know many of the Reeves in this area. I have family down in the Carthage area as well, so I am down there from time to time. I am lucky to have the truck, and to be making some progress on it again.
