Split Personality

Post by MrMopar »

Well I guess the Scarebird conversion isn't for everybody. With the D200 you can not use factory wheels, I tried both the original split ring and the 72+ wheels both with problems. I tried a spacer but at 1/2" I didn't like it. For now I have a couple Cragers of the front while I look into different wheels. The other thing that I had a problem with was the rotor on the right rubbed the Scarebird bracket, no real control here as that is set by the inner bearing (probably should have been replaced). So for now I shimmed the rotor out so that it will clear.
Scraping after less than a mile of driving.

Not the look I was going for but at least I'm back on the road.

Could a person use a stock 17.5" wheel? I know you probably
don't want to go that route, but perhaps others might. :thinking
You're right..... This conversion isn't for everyone. For a stock
wheel guy like myself.... I'll put up with drum brakes. Thanks for
this information.

Are the "shims" really just greased or Vaselined in place and not put on the studs? Looks like a problem waiting to happen to me.

I would have needed 5/8" washers to fit over the stud and have to cut them off on one edge. These are stuck on with weatherstrip adhesive, there is nowhere for them to go, the rotor keep them from going out, the center register keeps them from going in, the studs left or right> So I do not see a problem.
