Camper crazy
Camper crazy
I sold the 1967 D300 Caveman to a buyer in Athens, Georgia, now have the funds to purchase what I really wanted....the 1966 W300 Chinook. It is a massive beast for sure, another trip to New Mexico is in order.

Re: Camper crazy
I will post a few more pics. Here is the rear shot, it looks very similar to the Chinook Mobilodge style.....or a school bus!
Re: Camper crazy
the W300 Body appears to be in exceptional original condition/original paint/nice hood align. Nice when they have a roof over head, keep the moisture off. I think it came form SoCal, then went to NM. I expect some damage from the roof overhead struts at the cowl.
Re: Camper crazy
this shot shows the length of the camper body. Plenty of room for a frowning wife and two embarrased kids! Actually my 11yo daughter loved the D300 Caveman and begged me not to sell it. I think the bumper to bumper length is 25' + -.
Re: Camper crazy
I like the seating layout better and the bed is larger than the Caveman. Hopefully the original cushions and turquoise backing can be cleaned and preserved. The ceiling panels are going to require some work.
Re: Camper crazy
last one for now. Camper seems well equipped with a shower/toilet combo, heater, stove-oven sink, etc. Has a set of Jackman 16.5s, Braden LU-2 winch, SRW axle configuration.
Plans are to convert to either 12V Cummins/NV4500, or remove and freshen up the T6.354/Clark 280VO (from my Orange W300) which is an easy fit to the W300. Also have a Brownie UD/DD/OD if needed.
Add overhead a/c, and possibly ps. Have a set of 16 wide rings Budds and some Michelin 11R16s for it as well.
More photos after I get it home cleaned up a bit.

Just think...You could be sitting down at the table and look through the window and see heavy duty gauges.

Re: Camper crazy
Great looking camper! Would love something like that if we didn't already have a 1951 GM transit bus converted to a motor home. Say hello if you pass through or by Clovis, NM on your way to get it.

Re: Camper crazy
That is exactly what I plan to do, we have a few Texas Power Wagon events, and the Rhino would be easy to pull along on a small trailer. That way I could still hit the trails and have Dodge PW Camping quarters.dodgeboykim wrote:Am I ever digin that truck. Love the camper on it. Great camper...I think you will love it!
Re: Camper crazy
Now that looks like an Alaska camper. When you're done with it, I might have to come visit. Is there a Perkins sitting in the shop waiting for it? Looks more comfortable to sleep in than the crew.
Take care,
Arne
