Spotted a W600
I was driving home from work Yesterday and this heavy equipment hauler was exiting the freeway with a old tow truck on it. I was a ways away from it but thought it looked like a 70s Dodge. It turned and headed towards me and then I could tell what it was. I noticed both trucks had G&S Service on the door. I didn't have a camera other than my phone but I wasn't going to get a good picture anyway. I started searching online to see if I could find a picture but couldn't find anything. Then I decided to try Google Maps and sure enough it is sitting right by the road in this picture.

I thought this truck looked familiar. Looked through my pictures and here's a shot of it from back in '06 when somebody had it advertised for sale. 77 model, last year of them.

Wow! I never suspected anyone here would have a picture of it.

Don't save like I use to but if I saw ads I use to save about everyone I saw with the larger Dodge trucks. Getting few and far between.soopernaut wrote:Wow! I never suspected anyone here would have a picture of it.

Well it was riding on a trailer so i don't know how much use it gets. I just wonder where they would have been taking it.
I'm sure there are probably more old (1960s/1970s) trucks in use in your area than here.

I haven't run across ANY W500/600's (in use or otherwise) in my area, nearest is Ron Langford's 57 W500 which is 140 miles away. I have much unexplored territory to go.
Even D series medium dutys are scare. The 60's seem more common than the 74-77 ones. There is a local 74 D800 used as a water truck at nearby go-cart dirt track. Its block with Allison 540 automatic.
