She's a D-400, so she's a 1.5 ton with a 318 cu in LA 4 speed NP435 transmission with 2 speed rear end ( was a 13802 center section but changed it to 15040) for highway speed. She's 6.29 on the low side and 8.75 on the hi side.

Had to get a load of rocks for landscaping. Kept loading until it was squatted good. Maybe a yard. Was a little squirrely on the way home, but made it. Every home owner needs a truck, that can get dirty. When I moved it to unload on the side of a hill the rear bumper was about 9" off the ground. The rocks had shifted towards the back. The young guys helping me unload can't believe trucks can work that hard.
Maybe I'll use a trailer next time.

I have not posted this one here before I think. This was last year, I was going trough my garage and cleaned it out of old wheels and tires. In the end I had almost 50 complete wheels (rim and tire) that needed to be separated and thrown away. Here is my truck loaded up with old tires on the way to the dump:

There in Norway do you get a lot of looks and or comments on your truck? They cant be very common. I live in Michigan where they made a lot of them and I have seen two on the road in 20 years.

I do get lots of looks and comment, common they are not. Infact, what I have noticed is that most people don't even understand what it is. I have heard lots of people say that they them self or someone they know have had one just like it and when I start asking them for more details it turns out it was usually a Chevy Squarebody or something like that. Last year I went to a car show with it and lots of people said it was a cool truck and that there was one just like mine for sale at the same show. I went to have a look at it and it turned out it was a 69 Chevy C10.
And most people have no idea what year it is either. I have had people guessing it is from the 50s and the 70s and since I have the old style licenceplates on it (one letter and five digits) they all belive that I have found it somewhere here in Norway. When I tell them that I bought it in Idaho they get really surprised. And then there was the man behind the counter at the US Auto Parts store that had worked there for over 30 years and never had anyone in looking for parts for a 65 Dodge D100, he did not even know what that was at first and I had to tell him it is a pickuptruck
So they are not at all common, the later generation (72 and up) is much more common and everyone is dreaming about a Little Red Express (I would prefer a Warlock my self).

How do they do manage the speedometer on a truck with a 2-speed rear end?

By way of a speedometer adaptor, electrically controlled by the 2-speed shift knob. the adaptor gears are the same % change as the gears in the rear are.

Great info, anyone know where I can get one or have a custom one made? Since I changed my gears my high side is out.

There's hauling firewood, and then there's dragging logs. Some of these were 36" on the butt.

The adaptors are all the same for all the different ratio's combo's. They are normally spring loaded held in the high range gear and electrically shifted to the low range. You can test for power at the adaptor when knob is in low position first before replacing. ( or bench test).

Edit to add: unit must be grounded to work properly.

I do take my boots off and throw them in the bed when I get in the truck.

Yeahbut, this thread says the photos are to be of the truck being used as a truck. I don't see any mud, dust, or horseplop anywhere.

Sadly I sold this truck and my heart hurts every time I think about it.

I tried to find the guy to see if he'd sell it back but no luck. I can't find the email or number from when I sold it. All I remember is he was an older guy and he said he had a car collection. He lived in Crossville, Tn and told me come by if I was up that way to see his cars.

Never sell your truck. You'll miss it.

There are times in life when the younger brother has to help the older brother find his way home.......
