Cool Dodge Van on Rockwells....

Post by PowerMan »

Found this down in the desert out of Palmdale, Ca. It sits on Rockwell 2.5 ton axles and is powered by a 360. It also has 4 wheel steering. Someone's crazy idea... :Thumbsup

Someday I'll build something with rockwells for some four wheeling. I've been helping one of my buddy's with his 1952 Dodge M37. He put in a '95 12 valve cummins with NV4500 and rockwells with 44" super swampers. Here's a few pictures:

That van is way too cool! Personally, I'd love to have a little more civilized one that could actually hit the streets.

Those rockwells are the holy grail for off road vehicles. They have the gear box on top of the axle so the U-joint stays farther away from the rocks and the bottom pan is practically bullet-proof. Being in the military I've seen lots of those but I couldn't get them. I don't have a vehicle to put them on but if I had them I would get something to put them on quick.

The only thing is there aren't many gear ratios available. Maybe only one and it is very low.

oh yeah, VERY low. I wouldn't drive it on the freeway, it'll have high RPM's on the street. Better for off-road use. :Thumbsup
