Long one is the trans shifter, shorter one is the shifter for the transfer case.

A little lesson for ya.

D200 is 2 wheel drive 3/4 ton.D100 is 2 wheel drive 1/2 ton.

Did you do the conversion ?
Was there a lot of reconfiguring to do ? I'm thinking there must have been.

Yes, I did all the work. Pretty much everything bolted up except the transmission cross member and the rear drive shaft which I had to have made at a local shop. I also had to change the rear axle parking brake cables cause they were not the right length and the master cylinder is for a 74 dodge 1/2 ton truck because of the front disc brakes. The front drive shaft works but the slip yoke is worn and will need replaced. The hardest part was having to do the work twice because the all of the first donor truck parts were wore out. In fact, the only thing that survive from the the first truck is the 4 spd bell housing. I kept '85 front springs but I had to use a set of 3/4 ton rear springs i had laying around from different project as the center pin is offset about 1.5 inches (I think) in the post 71 trucks and causes the rear axle to sit too far forward in the rear wheel wells.

The ones I got did not mount that good but I made them work the best I could. I think if a guy were to make their own retaining ring to fit the conour of the dog house the rubber boots would conform pretty good. I would love to find some period correct boots (Hint Hint you guys...).

So that means... ALL Ws are 4 wheel drive? And how does the double shifter work? I mean... when you're driving in snow for example, do you just shift one then the other?...

Man, and I thought driving my truck was complicated... D: Looks like I need to read up on some things... :study

P/C,

The tall shifter is your typical manual transmission shifter to shift between 1,2,3,4,R. The second smaller shifter is to put the truck into the 4 wheel drive ranges, 4L (4 Wheel Drive Low), 4H (4 Wheel Drive High), 2H (2 Wheel Drive High), and Neutral. Typically if you are going to go 4 wheeling you can cruise around in 4H, if you get into something sticky or are going to climb a hill you will shift down to 4L, this drops the gearing down in the transfer case. Cruising the highway will be 2H.

This is very generic and I am not positive if all the dodges are the same for the lettering.

Hope this helps

Quite a bit... Thanks. My mom tried to explain it to me, but she... Was wrong? And dad was frustrated when he got home, then left back for work not an hour later.

Just learned how to drive a stick... Still not all that great at it. But to add 4WD would be... I couldn't imagine not being frustrated trying to drive it.

To add more transfer case confusion, the 61-68 4 wheel drive trucks had a 2 lever transfercase. They didn't come with automatics either so you would have 3 shifter levers.

Oh dear... O.O I couldn't function in a truck like that. XD Too many things to do... I'm not that great with multitasking... Especially while driving.

You would be suprised how easy it is to operate the three stick setup don't be intimidated by the three sticks, the most common problem is people trying to shift from 4 high to 4 low or visa versa on the fly this is diificult to accomplish and is very hard on the drive line components. The Dodge people were very smart to build the W's this way since it is simple, functional and way cool which is why so many aftermarket vendors are now supplying two stick T-case shifters for Jeeps and so on for that cool factor.

I had enough problems driving my truck... After all, I practically learned to drive on an automatic... In an 02' E-150... >.>

One stick distracts me enough... Two... Would be horrible... three... Might as well take my license now... Lol

I have the 3 stick setup. It isn't complicated at all. It drives just like a 2WD unless you want to use 4WD, in which case you stop the truck, engage the front axle, and select HIGH range or LOW range. Then it drives the same as a 2WD again (Except you don't get stuck  ) You don't use the other shorter shifters unless you're stopped. Since my front diff is broken, I haven't tried my 4WD... I'm curious just how slowly i can crawl along in 4LOW with my 4.10s in 1st gear... it's like freakin' 6:1 :dance
