yep, thats plastic oil line, its not leaking YET, but its getting replaced with copper anyway. and yes, thats a flat washer wedged under the dist base, between the gasket and the base. letting a little dribble of oil out and down the back side of the block wish i had seen that BEFORE i pulled the intake.

There's a gasket in the distributor? Maybe that's where all my oil is going to. You think the washer under the distributor clamp is bad? Try my truck out, I repulled the carb and there is what looks like a sparkplug stuck in an intake runner. How it got there is anyone's guess. So much for that intake. If I'm going through the trouble of pulling it, an aluminum 4bbl setup is going on in its place. Sure wish I could track down the previous owner... have a few holes in the backyard just right to hide him...

can you fish the part out of the intake and save the hassel pulling it? youde be surprised the stuff i have dropped down an intake with the carb off. i have gotten in the habit of as soon as the carb is off, a rag goes over the holes. spent too many hours magnet fishing and removing intakes cause of little crap falling in. and the dist base has an o-ring seal on it. if its bad, you will leak oil unless you got one heck of a good pcv system. but some still gets by reguardless.
