Don's hauler up close and personal!

Post by OregonDodgeboy »

As I posted about a couple of weeks ago, I took my dad to the B-J auction in Las Vegas last weekend. While there were some nice vehicles there, I rounded a corner and about passed out! Don's hauler, in all it's glory! This truck is absolutely perfect! I felt like it was 1967 staring at a freshly painted and detailed truck. I don't know how good or bad of condition it was in when they started, but it looks showroom new now. :clap :Thumbsup

Wow, that is Bad.

Great piece of Dodge / Drag racing history.

I've seen pictures of Don Garlets Crew cab before, I wish I could find them.

I bet BJ was a great show, did you or your dad buy or sell anything?

B/J was an ok show. We heard they were supposed to have 500 cars. I think that truly they had about half of that. Saw most everything the first day. Came back the second expecting a new batch of auction cars only to find the same ones still there. Only benefit of coming the second day was that they opened up the transporter truck for inside pictures. I think the economy really showed how tough it was this year. Some smoking deals on cars, but we were only there for the show and vendor stuff. 2800+ miles in the rental car that week and the highlight of the show (IMHO) was the hauler.

Here's a link to the entire album I took while I was there (not a complete inventory of cars by any means):

That is neat! But, can you see top drag racers using a rig like that today? NO WAY! They have to have the BIG tractor trailer units now...

Good find! So, it looks like that it was originally a red truck, but when he started driving the Cuda, they repainted it yellow to match the race car.

OK, well...

1 - The truck on the cover is a '68, and Snake's truck is a Pie Plate...so it is what, about a 66-67.

2 - The truck on the cover is Tom McEwen's Hauler not Don Prudhomme's hauler.

3 - Snake's 'Cuda was yellow in 1970 and Mongoose's Duster was red.

In 1971 Snake went to white and Mongoose was blue. Saw those cars race in person at Century 21 Raceway in Aurora, CO...

The 67 is currently in a magazine, I forget which one. I saw about 5 Sweptlines last time I looked at all the new magazines.
