Dodge 1968 D100

Hi This sis my first Post y hope you like and help me whit some ideas.

The story goes like this, the truck belonged to my grandfather, the truck was over 20 years kept in a garage and my father and I took the project to repair.

Slant six with a 4 speed trans, fully functional, sound great, and run exelent. but need a lot of work and a lot of replacement parts
like the letter G on the hood, inside right door handle, left window handle the dodge 100 emblem.lol a lot of things

The original motor was complete repair, the gas pump in new, the water pump is new, 6 spark plugs, clutch...

Anybody recognize the trans and engine?

Looks like Gramps had some fab skills! The top is definately added as are the tailgate doors and the rear doors. It does not look like a crew conversion. That is a unique one for sure!

LOL I do not think my grandfather could do that. He paint the doors without removing the panels and painting them stay on LOL

I was told that the priests of the time import the truck and Crysler Colombia modified a few years later, like a passengers van

I wounder if the roof and maybe the glass from a 66/67 Coronet. Well It's cool no mater what it is. Some pictures of the interior & fabrication would be great. I'd just about kill for that on a 4x4 chassis.

I'm pretty sure that was NOT built in the US for export, but rather built in either the Chrysler plant in Colombia, Venezuela or Argentina. Chrysler had facilities in those countries back then. Notice the rear curbside door is nothing like a Crew Cab door. This is a factory rig.

You guys have to remember that Chrysler was worldwide back then. For example, to pick a year (1969), Chrysler built A-bodies in Belgium and Switzerland for the European market. They were building cars in South Africa, Australia, Venezuela, Argentina, France, Canada, Mexico, Spain, AND the US.

The only four-door panel style built back them was the International Travel-All. The Jeep Wagoneer was considered a station wagon back then. Ford did not build one. GM had two doors on their pre-'67 trucks, and three on the '67 - '72 trucks. Note, this Dodge ALSO has only three doors! This is because IH had patented that style as their own. Notice that GM's 1973 Suburban was when a four-door appeared. GM had finally convinced IH to allow them to build a 4-door design, but GM had to pay IH a certain amount of $$$ per unit built. Ford and Chrysler never did build a 4-door styled vehicle unit much later on.

I've wondered for years about what one would look like in real life if "someone ever did build one". I guess that mother MoPar beat us to the punch by a few years eh? That's just too cool! I wonder if I could get my tape measure through customs. ROAD TRIP!!


Patrick; I always wondered why so many of those trucks were titled as station wagons. Now I know. I wonder how much IH got per unit from GM. I'm an IH nut too, so I must take this rabbit trail. I must, I must I MUST!!

you guys notice that the side bodyline doesn't "SWEPT" up. wasn't NAVYDAVY asking about that on the body/trim page?
looks like the roof of a coronet wagon. dig the way the bodyline wraps around the box corners ,over the tail lights.

I noticed that it has a straight line also. Look at the roof above the rear doors, it has that little step down like the rear of the roofline common to Sweptlines.

Just clean it up, make it safe and drive it! Even in Columbia, you will still get a lot of compliments on that 'Sweptburban'. We here in the USA are envious! Thank you fr sharing!

That thing is pretty cool. I've seen them on ebay Argentina and posted several on here before but haven't seen close up pictures or interior pictures. They also built one that looks like a 4 door car with a bed. http://articulo.mercadolibre.com.ar/MLA ... -f-100-_JM

According to what I have found, and my very first post on this site many, many years ago, Chrysler built 2 sweptline SUVs in the United States that they used for people haulers between the plants in Michigan. These however were build out of crew cab trucks and possibly used GM Suburban roofs to finish the rear portion. Since they weren't production vehicles they probably saw no reason to build their own roofs. I believe this was around 1968. I have no idea why they didn't use vans to haul people.
