Travel Trailer Test

Post by jimmy »

Finally set up elec. brakes in Sasquatch. Hooked up to the travel trailer for the first time and pulled about 25miles round trip. Pulled a nice steep grade on highway 395 north of Spokane. Sasquatch Pulles AWSOME. 55mph up the grade in 4th gear. I didn't think it would with the gears and tire size. I love the combo of 3.54's in the 92' axles, Springs & air bags (20psi), 33" tires, Power steeeing that I built, 440 and NP 435.

I even made a few stops without trailer brakes to see what it would do if I lost them. Stops Awsome. The big brakes are worth ever penny.

The trailer has 680lbs of tong weight with out being loaded with fresh water. The trailer weight is 4900 lbs not loaded.

I very happy with how Sasquatch Pulles and Rides.

next I'll try my heavy duty drop hitch instead od the equalizer hitch. The equalizer does not adjust low enough for the hight of my truck. The trailer pulls so nice behind Sasquatch, I really don't think it needs it. I have very little pressure on the bars. I may build a hitch for them because I do like the safety they provide.

I can't tell you how good it feels to actually be able to use and enjoy the truck. Still have a long way to go, but driving it really is great.

I need to figure out why the new weather stripping leeks when I wash it, and the wing windows don't seal properly. I wish I would have just built frames to weld in and had a little larger wing glass cut and then just glued them in. I hate wing windows leaking and whisling for all the more I use them they aren't worth it.

Thanks for all the help during the build and for the nice coments!

That's disheartening. I like my vent windows, and need to put new weatherstrip in, but don't want them whistling all the time.

Oh, Post More Pictures!
What a mess.

I installed 92' dana 60 front and a 70 rear. I used the 92' master on my factory booster. The axles have 3.54 gears from the Cummins truck that they came from.

The discs up front and drum out back are Huge.

Jimmy, I've see that truck before. I think you drove it out to the Mopars unlimited show in the Spokane valley. You parked it way away across the field, Right. I was hoping you would bring it in and enter it.

That was me, I only had time to look at every one elses cars & trucks. I couldn't stay very long. That was the trucks first real trip. I live at Five Mile so a drive to the Valley was the farthest that I had taken her. I see that you have a crewcab, was it the white one at the show? What a great truck.

I'm not really one for entering in shows, I don't really have anything nice enuf in my opinion. I just like looking at other cars. I built the Crewcab as a daily driver and it was my first and probably my last attempt at body work and paint.

Some times I'll park my Satellite at the Steer Inn (Division) on Wedseday eveings and have a burger while I look at what rolls in, but thats not really a show.

I have some sweptline parts that I will never use if you or any body you now needs them, I would sell very cheep or in some cases give parts away. I just don't have anywere to keep them.

I'd love to see your collection someday.
