another great find

Post by sweptlinemike »

A friend of mine found this shorty at the junk yard, I went to check it out and found that it has a big block and the body doesn't look to bad (not rusted out) best I can tell is that its a 68?, I couldn't get to the vin plate and the tail light lens said 65 which I knew was wrong. If I can get together the 400 bucks to get it, what I want to do is switch out the cab and hood from my 69 lwb. Is there any differences in the body? I haven't found any information stating so except that there may be a difference in the suspension? My 69 is a factory air truck with power brakes so switching out the cabs makes sense to keep those features plus Ive grown fond of my 69.

$400 for a big block short bed.... :dance Nice find! :Thumbsup The body says its a '68 but you'd have to check the vin.
I believe the size of the dashes from '61-'68 are different from those from '69 to '71. I am not totally sure.
Hopefully someone else can answer the question because I'd like to know for sure. :salut
I am not sure about the cab interchangability. :study

Your 69 cab will bolt to the 68 frame the body lines are the same , to use your 69 hood you need to change the hood latch on the rad support as the 68 is different

For sure, snag that one. As far as I know the dash, hood and emblems are the only differences. :Thumbsup

That is a 68 hood and 68 Dash. Dash and hood were way different in 69.

I did finally buy it, I got it towed to my house for 350 bucks. I decided to work with it and trade off the 69...........
