ONe the engine I could not find the correct color so I went with Hammerite hammered bronze adn that was pretty close. I first tried some gold but it was way off from what was originally there.

Our bumpers definitely share some steel DNA! Looks like you've done some great work, Kaegi! This winter, I think that we're going to go after our old boy with a vengeance so that next summer we'll have fun at the weekly show and cruise.

cant wait to see the progess. you have a great starting point. the color on my bumper is the same as the engine. my engine pic makes it look like silver but the bumper pic is what the engine really looks like. I bet our trucks came from the same dealership. there couldn't ahve been too many Dodge Dealers in Idaho in 61. Maybe your truck was also a Henkel & McCoy truck originally? The color is not waht I have seen on any Forest Service trucks. they are mostly Dark Forest Green or the very light pastel Green.

Is your truck in the registry yet?

Your truck is an inspiration. You don't see many 61s with the stepside. I got one earlier this year (with the slant 225). But the body and engine have required considerable work and there is considerable work yet to do. Good luck and have fun!

It sure could be! I don't know which dealership sold it, but they sure do seem pretty doggone close to each other! I agree about the paint scheme, but grandma and grandpa were absolutely sure about where it came from. It's got some small holes in the dash where the radio was mounted and a bigger hole in the roof where the antenna was.

No, I'll have to take care of that tonight.

If you need any close up pics for tech details or want any close ups of the bumper mod let me know I can post them or email to you. How did you get your firewall to come back so well? looks rusty in the one pics then like new in the next! FYI those 2 clips on the seam on the firewall are their to hold the wire loom you see draping over the back of the engine.

 That was dirt. Man, you would not believe the dirt that I've cleaned out of this thing. It's something like 7 years since we got the truck and I'm still finding dirt tucked away in little places here and there!

Thanks for the clue about those clips. I'll move the wires tonight.

Well, I can say for certain that there was pavement in front of the barn!
