Someone asked if I had a picture of my guages and found it over on Norm's site.

I think that should get the picture and an idea of what they look like.

Yeah, it works. Just tried it.

damn russ, looks like an air plane cockpit! i can account for what 6 of the 8 gauges would control, (speed, tach, oil press, temp, amps, fuel, maybe vaccume for 7) what are the other 2 for?

Well, there are 8 gauges in the picture but I actually have 9. Got a fuel ratio gauge under the dash now. The one you missed up top is oil temp. I also want to add a pyrometer. The big trucks I drive have way more gauges than I have in the PW. They have all these (except fuel/air ratio) plus temp gauges for the 2 drive axles, trans temp, pyrometer, brake air plus air application pressure. So I'm a gauge guy and I like lotsa gauges  :Thumbsup I also have an extra gearshift most guys don't have in their rig too! :dance :clap

Russ, are you suffering from the same OCD demons I have with my Ramcharger? Just curious, I like tell all, but engine vacuum? Jim

Jim,

Not sure what OCD is but likely so.  I know that abbreviation, just can't bring it to mind right now. The vacuum gauge can be used to drive for fuel mileage. Yeah, I know these rigs are like a barn door down the road but I did make a trip to Texas and back. After much anguish getting the carb dialed in I managed one fillup of 14.7 MPG and the next was about 15.1. That was between 40 and 50 gallons since I have two tanks. Course the second tank was downhill from Idaho :Thumbsup :Thumbsup To do that I try real hard to not ever allow the step-up rods to get in the richer mode and stay at 55 MPH. The gauge helps me accomplish that since I know which springs I have in the carb and about what point they will tip in.

the vac gauge comes in really handy for tuning as well. max vac is where the truck runs the best at idle. real handy in telling a bit earlier that its time to give the truck a good tuning as well. :Thumbsup

I have learned the hard way over the years that vacuum tuning is the only way to go. Jim
