Just wanted to say thanks guys
When I got my truck, no rear lights - running, turn or brakes. Everybody here pretty much suggested ground. Had a minor miracle pluggin' and unpluggin' and they somehow "fixed themselves" (yea, right!). Then of course, they quit working again.
Today I wire brushed the housings and mounting points, still nothing.
So I ran a couple (one on each side) 19" 6 gauge "starter to relay" battery cables from the frame (I used the holes where the spare tire thingy mounts) to a hole I drilled in the flat section of the bed support behind the tailight mounts (doesn't show, it's underneath). Wire wheeled all contact points for the cables and VOILA! Man I've got bright lights
Total cost around $5. $2.22 per cable at Walmart and a handfull of stainless bolts/washers/lockwashers from the hardware store.
Gonna do the cab to frame next, just because
So thanks again guys, I now fully realize the importance of a good ground!
