There rebuildable IF you can find someone who can work on simple radios , I can't remember if those are the tube type of the frist stages of transisters type , but a good hot wire ,a good ground wire & a good antina is a must on A AM radio

won't fit a 64 unless you cut the dash.

you can have the radio converted to FM and it would still look and function like the AM :)

not sure who does it but i would think a google search would be easiest to figure out who

I've only had my '65 2 weeks but the radio is one thing I think is really cool! Mine works, AM only - and it sounds like 1965 :dance

No station comes in very well and it squeels like an old radio when tuning. When it's on, I halfway expect LBJ to break in with a Presidential Address. Not even close to Hi-Fi, but a total keeper.

No real helpful advice, sorry! My :2cents , get your stock one working. AM rocks

Jim - yep. I'll have an under the dash CD player, someday. Plan on wiring it on an independant circuit with small, hidden speakers.

Small, simple sound system, but I'm gonna leave the original system intact and functional. Because I really do think it's cool. :Thumbsup

'64 radio for sale in the parts section (not mine, just a heads-up Jones!)

I saw a company at the Charlotte Auto Fair who takes any old radio (Even back to the 30's) and reuses the existing Faceplate and case and adds modern internals. You can add on a CD player (hidden)

EXPENSIVE $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Saves the stock look of the radio - Face plate, dial, markings...

I'm still looking for the name and address of the company! :thinking

Check out http://www.antiqueautomobileradio.com

If I ever have any extra cash I may find a stock radio and have it converted.

This is great for those who want the original look but modern tunes!

My 1937 Terraplane uses the stock head unit, and it's very small. The modern radio is connected via cable to the tuner and I have FM stereo any time I want it. The 6x9 speakers are tucked under the dash and built in to the upper kick panels - it's nearly invisible!
