Brake light switch misalignment

Post by JimE »

On my 69 D200, I have the bracket adjusted as close to the pedal as possible and it still misses it by a good 3/8", see the photos at this link:

I have pictures from 1 of Fred's rigs(a 70), the bracket looks correct, but why is my pedal hitting the wire connector and not the switch plunger? Do I have the wrong brake switch bracket in this truck? Thanks, Jim

Jim,

I looked at both my 67 and my 70, the bracket looks correct. The switch is different on my 67 (No adjustment). The bracket on both is behind what ever its bolted to and both are all the way to the right of the slot. Could your pedal arm be bent or assembled wrong?

Don

Jim,
Your bracket that holds the brake light switch
looks like it is in backwards. Have you tried to
flip the bracket around?

John, I have tried all the combinations with little success. I finally just bent it. Here is my posting on Norm's site:

I just think it was abused at some point, as far as the swap from auto to stick, just fishing. I think it will work, I hate having to do that to 37 year old metal though. Thanks, Jim
