Front running lights

Post by Otterdodge »

I've been working on my electrical system off and on for 2 weeks. To make a long story short my two main issues was a bad ground and wrong bulbs (1157) in the rear signal lights. I replaced with 1154 and walla :dance all signals work. Except, and I'm embarrased to ask, but, Should the running lights in front be on when the headlights are on? My running lights extinguish themselves when the headlights come on, all other functions work with these front lights. This is the last of my electrical issues please help!

1157 should be the right bulb, but hay it works so who cares....... all I use on all my trucks.
running lights on 68 and earler truck turn off when headlights come on, if I recall 69?, running lights 70 and 71 should stay on.

Re lights

Great, I seen no reason after tracing the wire diagram how a short could cause this. I thought the 1157 should work as well but my truck likes 1154's so I'll stick with that. Thanks a lot!! :clap

if you want the running lights to stay on with the head lights, all you have to do is wire them to the same wiring leading to the rear tail lights. you can splice the right where they come out of the cab. that is how I wired mine several years ago. Ozzie.

Jeff, only the 70-71 park lights stay on with the headlights. The 69s are like all other years, they go out when the headlights come on, unless a person was to do the mod Ozzie suggested. Jim

I use the 1157's the only ones that will work in my sockets?? how strange you had to go to the 1154's :thinking
