Lookin' for a Tach
I have finnaly found some time to turn some wrenches on "Frank" and am chompin' at the bit to add some reliability and better functionality to his "WOW" factor.
I'm going to replace all of my underhood wiring in the next few weeks, and thought this would be the right time to add a much needed Tach. I have never shopped for one before, and am not sure what to look for.
I'd like it to be smaller than the giant 5 inch models I am seeing, and will mount it on my steering column.
I have a 440 Magnum out of a 69 Charger in my truck. Where can I find "red line" info? Do I rely on the info from the Charger set up, or do I take into account the 435 tranny and 4.10 rear when determining the red line? What questions am I not asking?

The drive-line won't actually determine your red line.
The drive-line will determine how quick you'll reach
your red line. For a bone stock 440 Mag., you'll be
pushing the limits at 5600 rpms. This is as I've
known it... you will undoubtedly receive MANY other
opinions with regards to a red line setting. If it
were me, I'd set the line at 5000rpm..... knowing full
well that I'd "push it" every now & again

tach
How about a Tach that is compatible with the MSD? I have a Sunpro Super Tach II and have to have an adaptor, would rather get the one that is already set up to read the MSD, any on hand??? Autometers are over $100
Gilesie, What size tach are you looking for?
Robin, I'll have to look. Any preferences?
I bought a bunch of new tachs, gauges and Actron test equipment at an auction for a auto performance shop going out of business awhile back.
I also have brand new Actron timing lights that retail for $80 in stores for $50 plus $9 shipping.
Actron professional compression testers retail $40 for $20 plus $4.95 shipping.
If theres anything else anyone needs. I'll go through what I have and shoot you a price on it.
