I've got one. probly the best 50 bucks i spent on the truck, interms of reliability. not only does it work much better its one less thing to check when it doesnt start. If i remember correctly wideblock uses the kit too.

I have 2 of them to date, one on my LA273(5 years and counting), one installed on my truck 383 (pertonix 2 HP), so far so good.
I still prefer the MP kit even though it costs more, however, the Pertronix kit is a good lower cost option and leaves everything with a more "stock" look.

They work great as long as your dist shaft is in good shape, any wobble and there not as good, but that is the case with any EI unit or points.....

I used one on my /6 until I got a great deal on a new distributor and electronic MP set up. So I've got a stock /6 distributor with the Pertronix set-up, everything except the rotor for $50 + shipping. I liked the Pertonix just fine. Be sure to get a good coil to go w/ it.

so, of course I need to ditch the ballast resistor...
MP is what?

Now the big question on my slant is what to do about the coil. I have the sun tach and my coil looks like it may have a second blade for the tach to hook to.

If i change coil, I was thinking about going with the MSD. They have a coil that's for sale at autozone, something like $46. I was told to avoid Accel like the plague. anyone here know if the pertronix will trigger an MSD 6AL?

Joe: you're selling a pertronix equipped dist?

why would you loose the ballast resistor?? mines still hooked up. you install the petronix with the pos wire on the pos side of the coil, neg wire on the neg side of the coil and your done. you have bypassed the ballast to the pet system, but left it in line with everything else it works. be sure you got a good dist, or the pet system wont do you a whole lot of good. as far as accel coils go, i have had no problems with them at all. i have run them in fords, chevies, and my dodges. my 66 had an accel and points, 6 years later, its still going strong, my 65 has accel and the pet system, havent had a moments trouble from it either. as far as the 6al system, on a street truck, it aint worth the extra cash in my opinion. lots of flash that will do you no noticible good over a good plain old after market coil. :Thumbsup
