'69 383 Electronic ignition conversion???

Post by homebrew »

I have a '69 D-200 Camper Special with a 383 and I am in the process of converting to electronic ignition. I purchased the Mopar kit from Jegs and was wondering what kind of improvements can I expect??. Thanks, Brent

You won't have to gap your points  You should
notice an improvement in response. I put the MP
kit in my A318 and its a lot more peppy.

I put the Mopar orange box on my 66 D100 and I like it. Only problem I have is that I lost the instruction book on how-to install it. Can someone scan it in and post it?

Thank in advance.

I'm using the Petronix kit and its working great for me. Its also one less thing to check when the truck doesnt start. It will also drive as soon as it starats up on a cold day, as opposed to needing a good 3 to 4 minutes to warm up when i was using points.

Mars,
got it on my photo site below in the tech section,
at least the wiring dio......which is what most folks need.
On the MP units, be sure to check your dist vac advance unit, it is adjustable and often will need to adjusted to give the right advance.

I have also used the Pertronix units, happy with them too.......

Finally got the conversion completed and along with the distributor kit I also added new plug wires and a new coil (the old one was leaking oil! ha!ha!).

Definitely made a difference and worth the money! Thanks guys for the imput..Brent
