Before I tow this thing to a garage, I`ll try one last thing. I want to go direct with my own roll of wire. solenoid to relay to ignition switch. Do I connect it to the BAT on the switch or ST

What seems to be the problem with your truck, are you having a problem with the starting circuit.

you should have one wire from the starter to the relay, also one wire from the batt to the relay on the same post as the starter. :Thumbsup

The problem is I crossed wires at the volt or fuel gauge. Now there is no power. There is current in the engine compartment and current up to the volt gauge. I changed starter switch, relay and ballast.

No relay behind the volt/amp gauge on the trucks, so not that.
Sounds like he cooked the voltage/amp gauge, if
your not passing voltage across to both sides of the
gauge then you cooked it; OR you cooked a fused link
under the hood or dash somewere. What year is it agian?

Power feeds one side to the other on that gauge, if your drawing from the battery it reads -, if feeding from
alt it reads +.
