Alternator Exciter Wire on '61

Post by Snowdog »

I have a Rebel harness, which I love, and it has a wire marked as alternator exciter.

Is that something compatible with the alternator on my '61? My reading so far has not helped. If the exciter is to be attached, to which terminal on the alternator does it connect?

If anything, it would go to the regulator on the firewall. What is marked on the other end of that wire?

Thank you.

The other end just goes to the fuse panel.

If it is connected to the regulator the other end would never be connected through a fuse, nor a hot terminal on a fuse panel.

Thank you for that article...looks more complex than I'd have hoped. I'll have to have a better look at my wiring kit.

Simply follow the wiring diagram in the FSM and forget about what the wires are labeled. Electrons don't give a scheiss what color insulation is on a wire, nor what the wire is called.
