Fuel gauge voltage regulator repair.

Post by swptln »

A couple of months ago, I came up with a nice repair for your stock fuel gauge.
This video shows a preliminary test of the regulator. I'll be creating another video soon showing the difference between your original mechanical regulator and my new electronic unit.
This is not an external regulator that some guys have come up with and it has a fail safe design so that if you lose a input ground, it will not fry your gauges.

There are some preliminary checks you can do to find out what needs to be done before trying to fix it.

Here you go: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=43914

This was installed on a 1971 D100. Your 1967 instrument cluster will be a bit different, so the mounting and wire connections will be somewhat different.

2*1969 Daytona Charger 440 A/T

Sure could use some advice.
Fried three gas gauges.
Following wiring diagram from factory manual.
Can’t sort out why I keep burning good gauges up.
Has to be a grounding issue.
Any chance the gauge could be shorting out once it’s installed back into the metal cluster housing???
Advice welcomed!!
Thanks
