Blinkers not blinking

Post by Burningrubber »

I'm trying to get the blinkers to work on my 64 d100. The front come on but don't blink and the rear do anything.I have it all hooked up. The taillights work and so does every thing else. Do you think that it's a bad ground?

Howdy,
:welcome

I'd check the flasher, grounds on your lamp housings and the
turn signal switch for starters. :2cents :idea

The mechanical flashers (your truck) require adequate current flow to begin flashing. Typically, if you have a burnt out or non-working lamp, they will not flash. So I'm 99.9% sure the flasher is not your issue.

The rear brake lamps and the rear turn signal flashing lamp are one in the same. Do the brake lights work? If they do, that tells you everything from the turn signal switch back is OK. This would be next your diagnostic check.

As the rear turn signal and brake lamps are one in the same, the brake light feed is fed from the brake pedal switch to the turn signal switch. When the turn signal switch is activated, the switch opens the path to the selected side and connects it to the flasher circuit.

Also, the emergency flasher lamps are one in the same as the turn signal/brake lamps. So that could come into play, also.
