Lighting issue

Post by HellBelly »

1968 LWB D100 /6

When I turn the light switch to just the parking lights the tail lights come on and the license plate light comes on. When I then pull the switch to turn on headlights the rear taillight and license plate light go out but brake lights work and blinkers work

I’m guessing the switch?

Brake light and signal light circuits have no association with the headlight switch. They work whether headlights are on or not (daytime).

Does your front marker lights stay on when your headlights are on? If so, I would say that the running light circuits for the front and rear are reversed on the connection to the headlight switch. If not, then I would suspect the headlight switch itself. Doug

I'll check what's plugged into what on the switch, that might be it. That would make sense, because on a 1968 the front running light are not suppose to be on when the headlights are on.

It ended up being the switch was corroded. I replaced with a spare I had and all lights came on when they should have.
