Well I finally got around to putting this float....mentioned earlier....in the truck. Exact match. Yup, there was a pinhole in the existing float and it was probably half full of gas. The float just clips in. To remove the sending unit us a drift and hammer to tap the inner circular ring clockwise. I didn't need to replace the rubber gasket as it looked just fine and would reseal.

I hate to add this to my earlier post but I have to. I had said to tap the circular ring clockwise. I am not 100%, but I think its actually counter clockwise. You will be able to tell by looking at it. Sorry.
