I agree. From the wiring that is running to it, looks like a VR.

I don't think it is an aftermarket because it has the Chrysler "star" printed on it. It also looks like you may be able to read the part number on it too. PLUS... it looks like it is missing a COVER. :thinking

Follow the wires and see what it is hooked too. Whatever, it is NOT a factory sweptline part.

Wasn't there someone on the forum years ago who had a similar part & we determined it to be part of lighting circuit for the Camper Special?

I guess we should go back and ask what year and model is your truck. Because your other picture doesn't look like a voltage regulator to me. But maybe there is some cert feature you have. The standard VR doesn't look anything like what you are holding. It looks a lot like this...

https://www.ebay.com/p/NOS-Mopar-1966-6 ... 1623090782

I know that eBay listing just says 66-68, but my 69 is identical. So I would assume up till sqaureback Alternators, the VRs looked the same. I think they came in 71 model year trucks?

Sorry, the part is from a 71 D100 with 318 engine.

Here is another photo where the part was. I will try to see where the wires go tomorrow.

He is holding the factory solid state VR used in 70/71 trucks with the isolated field alternator. Thought it was also used in 69, but maybe not.

Just to be clear, we are talking about the part in the 1st picture of this post. The other picture is the picture of the voltage regulator I posted to answer somones guess that I was holding a VR. Unless you are saying both parts are voltage regulator?

@soopernaut is pointing you in the right direction. Not sure where your truck comes from, but looks like a NOX Valve... Not sure what that does, but that is what it is.

I think soopernaut is right. Truck has a texas dealership rear bumper. I bought it off a old farm in Belton, TX. There are a set of wires that plug into the transmission that I have been curious about. So, can I simply remove the parts and wires and all will be good or do I need to replace it? I just rebuilt the motor and I am currently putting the truck back together and do not want to mess anything up.

Thank you!

How does one remove the NOX components or should I keep them on my 71 D100 with 318 and 727 transmission?

I realize this is an old post, but wanted to confirm for future readers that the item in question IS definitely a factory part found on Sweptlines as part of the 1971 NOx system. It is the "NOx Spark Retard Sensor".

See my post here for more details (it is the 5th Topic, on page 1):
