Hotwire a Swepty

Post by HellBelly »

Left my key in a different state. I need to hotwire my truck. I can get it to crank, but i believe i need to get it to the on position first. I think i'm missing a step.

Can someone jog my memory. See image below.

What pin to what pin to what pin.

Scott, I don't recall which one of the 2 IGN's is which, but one bypasses the ballast resistor for starting and the other is the "run" position. Both will work and "run", but if the ballast is bypassed for long, it will burn up the points.

I would run jumper from + terminal of battery to the ballast resister (correct side) . Use screwdriver across starter terminals to crank.

You can also run a jumper from the battery to the positive on the battery, then short across the starter relay. However this will throw your charging system into full charge mode so don't run it to long.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely with a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, beer in one hand, cigar in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming,"what a ride&quot

I know I’m late but this did the trick.
