Ignition issue

Post by 63chevy »

Well I may have made a booboo. I was told if I run an MSD 6AL I could do away with the factory electronic ignition setup, but still use the distributor. So I few weeks ago I started rewriting the truck and I cut all the wiring for the factory ignition setup out, including the ballast resistor. Then I picked up the new ignition box and it shows a bunch of different wiring diagrams. One of witch states to run factory dodge ignition wiring.

Sooooo the question is, is there an aftermarket distributor on the market for around $200, or do I need to splice the old stuff back in?

My bad I didn’t explain that well. My truck has electronic ignition that came factory from a later dodge. (Installed by a dealer) at the previous owner request. But it’s essentially the pro form kit from summit racing.
